'डॅनेईड एग फ्लाय' फुलपाखराची मादी (उजवीकडील) दुरून पहिली तर सहज एखाद्या 'प्लेन टायगर' फुलपाखरासारखी (डावीकडील) दिसते. ही नकलाकारी उत्क्रांतीमध्ये 'बॅटेसियन मिमिक्रीचे' एक उत्तम उदाहरण मानले जाते, ज्यामध्ये एका निरुपद्रवी जातीचे सजीव, दुसऱ्या एखाद्या धोकादायक जातीची नक्कल करून शिकाऱ्यांपासून संरक्षण मिळवतात.

प्लेन टायगर फुलपाखरे प्रामुख्याने अल्केलॉईड प्रकारचे विषारी घटक असलेल्या झाडांवर वाढतात. त्यामुळे बेचव आणि धोकादायक असणाऱ्या ह्या फुलपाखरांकडे पक्षी भक्ष्य म्हणून खाण्याचे टाळतात. इतर फुलपाखरे जसे की एगफ्लाय आणि पामफ्लाय त्यांची नक्कल करून स्वतःचे संरक्षण करतात.
